<p>De Borgia was a station on the Northern Pacific twenty miles from Lookout Pass, which separates Montana and Idaho. The town derives its name from the St. Regis DeBorgia River, named in 1841 by Father DeSmet in honor of St. Francis DeBorgia, who had been a member of the Jesuit order to which Father DeSmet belonged.
